This list doesn’t contain leader names and phone numbers, partly to protect their privacy. All club members receive a complete trip list. Participation in any of these trips requires membership in SSKC or another local club with which we share reciprocal trip scheduling. DEER GROUP/BROKEN ISLANDS, BC. Paddle the Deer Group (exploratory) and tour the Broken Group. Launch from Bamfield and investigate many of the islands in southern Barkley Sound. This area has an interesting history, with many cultural sites still evident, both Nootka and European. Good writeup in Island Paddling (Mary Ann Snowden). Hazards include rough seas, fog and high winds. Itinerary will vary, with both leisurely days and long distance crossings. Hazards can include wind, fog, rough seas, off shore breakers. LAKE MAYFIELD AND COWLITZ RIVER. Launch in Mayfield Lake and paddle up a once raging canyon now flooded by Mayfield Dam. Skill levels may progress depending on how far up river we paddle. Overnight camping is available at Ice Iswanna State Park. However, make your own arrangements.

CHRISTMAS SHIP PADDLE- KIRKLAND. Rent your reindeer early for this frosty paddle on the lake. Looking for 8 reindeer and a jolly red elf for this year’s paddle. Decorated boats, holiday hats, jingle bells, and antlers are strongly encouraged. We’ll launch in Kirkland and meet the Christmas ships for the holiday concert. Dress warm and bring lights or glow sticks for your boat.

After Diablo’s frozen beauties with Babs on Saturday, stay overnight at Clarkıs Cabins and check out the free-ranging bunnies; then check out the regal eagles on Sunday, from Marblemount to Rockport; bracing skills and drysuit or wetsuit required, plus warm clothing (COLD water). 10 miles of paddling.
